Testimonials
"DOF has shown me that there are physicians and med students that look like me and that are willing to give back and help promote the inclusion of the disadvantaged students in healthcare spaces. I am grateful to be a part of the foundation as there are many opportunities available and something is always going on for me to get involved in."

"I really appreciate DOF for all the clinical opportunities we get! I truly believe these opportunities are very hard to come by without the guidance and support of an organization like DOF. It has even motivated me to get more involved in taking the extra mile to increase my networking and reach at my university to get more opportunities like the one DOF provides!"

"DOF gave me the opportunity to do research and volunteer at health screening events that I probably would not have come across if i wasn’t a part of the foundation. The mentorship is great and I feel it has really prepared me to be a successful medical student and doctor in the future. Through DOF I have been given help with finding work in clinical jobs and have also become better prepared for the MCAT through their tutoring program."

"Dear Mr. Deji & Ogunyemi Family, I hope this message finds you well and that you had a chance to enjoy a relaxing time with your loved ones over the recent Thanksgiving holiday. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your contribution to the Daniel Adebayo & Rachel Yetunde Ogunyemi Scholarship for Academic & Professional Excellence. I was recently awarded this generous gift at the momentous DOF gala. This award not only alleviates some of my financial burdens but also serves as an inspiring recognition of my efforts and aspirations. As a second-year medical student at Charles R. Drew University College of Medicine, I am deeply committed to pursuing a career in maternal-child health and increasing diversity within the physician workforce. Your generosity inspires me to continue my journey and to mentor HBCU premed students, helping to create pathways for future generations in medicine. Thank you once again for your support and belief in students like me. I am truly honored to be associated with your scholarship and the legacies of Daniel Adebayo & Rachel Yetunde Ogunyemi."

"Dear Dr. Jones-Quaidoo, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the scholarship you provided. This support has helped alleviate the financial burden I’ve been dealing with during medical school, allowing me to focus more on my studies. The act of giving scholarships to support students like me is truly beautiful and deeply respectable. It reflects your commitment not only to the field of medicine but also to lifting others as they work toward their goals. Your generosity also inspires me to one day be in a position where I can give back in a similar way. I am especially excited to share that I am interested in pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery, a field where I understand you have made an impact. As I navigate through this journey, I am seeking a mentor who can provide guidance and insight. If you would be open to sharing some of your knowledge or advice, it would mean the world to me. I would also love the opportunity to connect in person someday, if your schedule allows. Thank you again for your generosity and for being such an inspiring example in our field. I hope to follow in your footsteps by combining excellence in practice with a heart for service."

“I scheduled a mock interview for my MMI interview with two current Drew Medical Students. The mock was extremely helpful. They gave me insight into what questions they would ask, any red flags to avoid, and how to improve my answers. They gave me a wide range of scenarios and topics that I could be asked. I had this mock the day before the actual interview which helped me tremendously. They were so accommodating on such short notice as well.”

"As a non-traditional premedical student, it's difficult to determine what resources are most useful for me to use during the application cycle. The DOF foundation helped streamline this process and provided me with the resources I needed to successfully prepare for my medical school interviews."

“Participating in the mock interview was an incredible opportunity and an invaluable experience. The feedback I received was insightful, and the practice helped me feel much more confident and prepared for my upcoming interview. I appreciated how detailed the feedback was as it allowed me to refine my responses and learn how to approach different types of questions. I’m grateful for the support and guidance provided, and I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to improve their interview skills. Thank you so much for all your help!”

"I wanted to sincerely thank you for allowing me to shadow you yesterday. You and KenJonae created a valuable experience for me. I am very grateful for the opportunity to observe both of your interactions with patients and your approaches to high-risk patients. I was inspired by the compassion, professionalism, and the way both of you communicated with patients during sensitive and important moments. Being able to observe these interactions gave me a better and deeper understanding of the OB-GYN specialty and reaffirmed my interest in pursuing a career in this field in the future. Thank you again for your time and being generous in sharing your knowledge and experience. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if there’s anything I can do to assist in the proper process of shadowing you. I am very interested and eager to learn more from you, I look forward to staying in touch. Have a great weekend. Warm Regards, Malajia Wilson."

"Dr. Ogunyemi, Words can't express my thanks and appreciation for you and the DOF staff being available to assist CDU at the 25th Annual KJLH Women's Health Expo this past Saturday, May 31st. With DOF's support and presence, we were able to serve numerous community residents by providing our free health screening services. Again, thank you so much for assisting us; especially since the request for assistance was made a few days before the event. Our next major community outreach event will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Annual Taste of Soul Community Street Festival. I am hoping that DOF will be available to participate with CDU at this event, as well. Sincerely ."

"The interview preparation went very well. Dr O was very helpful in helping reconstruct my answers better. He was very honest and kind, which I appreciated. I believe I did well on my interview because of that. Also, I just received an interview invite for CDU!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. I would greatly appreciate another preparation if possible, because Drew is one of my top 3 schools. Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."

"DOF has been a really good experience for me in particular to get more involved in helping and engaging underserved communities. It has also allowed me to tie in what I am learning in classes with real world medical application. The sense of community within DOF is beautiful and connecting with other students I can relate to makes the journey to becoming a doctor less stressful. Also, the quarterly enrichment workshops and physician interviews are the best!"

"Our family's minivan was on its last leg, and with 4 kids and 3 carseats, we didn't all fit when we wanted to go out as a family. The generous gift from the Dotun Ogunyemi Foundation allowed us to finally make the purchase for the van of our dreams that would fit each one of our family members. No more taking two cars just to go to dinner together, and no more worrying that the minivan would survive out of town trips. We are so grateful every time we load up our family of 9, our kids think that we are living like Kings and we are so grateful every trip we make in this blessed car."
